About Us

Childhood Leukemia Foundation is a national non-profit organization that works closely with health professionals, to empower children and their families by providing the necessary tools to encourage hope. Supported by an ever-growing network of passionate and devoted donors and volunteers, Childhood Leukemia Foundation helps ease the day-to-day struggles of children fighting cancer and the families that love them.

Childhood Leukemia Foundation works closely with social workers, child life specialists, families and loved ones to also provide meaningful information, in a simple and practical to help meet their challenging lifestyles.

Mission

Childhood Leukemia Foundation proudly promotes patient education, advocacy, self-esteem and most of all – smiles. All programs are free of charge, and available to any pediatric cancer patient living in the continental United States.
Each program has been specifically designed to help meet the emotional and educational needs of these very special children.
History

Childhood Leukemia Foundation was founded in 1992 to educate and empower children 21 years or younger diagnosed with all forms of cancer. Childhood Leukemia Foundation’s programs increase self-esteem, and give children the opportunity to have fun experiences and be better able to cope with cancer.

Since inception, Childhood Leukemia Foundation has strived to maximize the effectiveness of its programs by developing new strategies to meet the needs of children with cancer, as well as refining existing programs based on feedback from children, parents and health professionals.

Throughout the years Childhood Leukemia Foundation has maintained and expanded its hospital network to include more than 250 hospitals in major cities across the United States.

The Hope Binder program provides families with an organizational tool to help keep track and prioritizing medical information and costs associated with the treatment of their child.

Hugs U Wear program provides 100% human hair, custom-made wigs to children suffering from a loss of self-esteem due to treatment induced hair loss.

Wish Baskets are delivered to hospitalized children almost every day. Each basket is filled with age appropriate gift items and a $75 Gift Card to purchase another wish item of their choice.

Keeping Kids Connected program gifts iPads and Laptops to children and hospitals to help young cancer patients to remain connected to family, friends and school while receiving treatment. In addition, the iPads and laptops are a very useful tool to help divert the child’s attention during stressful, lengthy or painful procedures.
